Massa Will Resign Monday as Planned
Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) will follow through with his resignation, scheduled to take effect at 5 p.m. Monday, his chief of staff confirmed. Massa suggested to a New York radio station on Sunday that he could rescind his resignation after asserting that an ethics investigation into allegations that he sexually harassed an aide may have been orchestrated by Democratic leaders to get him out of office before the health care vote. No matter what his opinion on health care is or was or ever will be, Massa is dead meat. That he has gotten into it w/ Emmanuel, House leaders, etc., means he has cooked his goose.
He may or may not be guilty of anything, including making suggestive remarks to one of his aides.
Personally, I want him to hang in there because I think there is a whole lot more to this than what we are being told. I think its at least possible, Massa was set up for a fall because he would not toe the line on a health care vote. The sin of this is, we may never learn what has really happened. If Dems are pressuring their members to vote for this despite their personal objections to it, the people deserve to know. The leadership will not go after someone like Stupak because he’s far too high profile & in all of his babbling, he has not presented himself in any sort of a controversial manner. Apparently Massa has in the past & perhaps is doing so right now.
If this was a setup, I hope someone breaks & reveals they were encouraged or coerced into making allegations. Once that fact is finally revealed, many other unpleasant facts will start to come out. I suspect there are a huge number of seriously unpleasant facts this administration cannot afford to get out. Such would reveal them to the public as ‘just like any other politician.’ That this bill would allow those revelations to be exposed would also show just how despicable this whole thing is. The people, in numerous polls, have voiced their displeasure w/ all of the currently proposed health care legislation. Many are trying to parse the polls or pick apart statements to make the polls look like the people really do support health care, but the truth is, when the people learn the details (which the people are concerned about despite the despicable assertions of some who alleged the people are too stupid to understand all of this), they strongly object to the plans.
So Mr. Massa….. stick with it and make the leaders come out of the closet & make their accusations publicly, where you can defend against them. Its that or you can accept that you have been had! Either way the American people would stand to gain!
