Rocking The Political Establishment
In the last eighteen months we have seen two of the most vibrant personalities and potential rock stars enter the national political scene. The two people are of course, Sarah Palin and Scott Brown. Both basically came from out of nowhere even though they both had experience in state and local politics. But neither had any experience or exposure on the national level and neither were very well known outside their respective states’ political arena.
It would be fair to say though, that each has created quite a storm on their initial entry to the national political environment. Like Palin’s keynote speech at the Republican convention and the ensuing media frenzy that resulted, Brown’s win in Massachusetts has turned the political world upside down. And as you might expect, this has turned the leftist state run media into a frenzy to dig dirt and uncover any unsavory information they can find.
Brown appears to be positioned to hit the ground running. From all indications, he has a very good handle on the issues that affect all Americans and the sharp political environment in Washington. A thirty-year military guy, he is a tough “every man’s man” and he will be very difficult to be pushed around by political opposition.
Brown and Palin seem to have a lot in common politically, although there are also some differences. What unites them in the hearts of many conservative is that they share the same populist-based political beliefs that are surging through American politics, along with the conservative common sense politics and fiscally conservative, family based values.
That sets them both up to be a target of the left-run media and as we saw what the media did to Palin, they are already digging on Brown. At this point the media really does not know how to paint Brown because not enough is yet known about him on the national level. But the media will uncover every stone on Brown, so we can expect to see more articles that will look deeply into his past for dirt. To this point, the Cosmo pictorial and the fact that he actually drives a truck (!!!!) is the best they have been able to come up with.
It’s been a lot of fun to see these two Republican stars burst onto the scene, especially for someone like me who was never really interested in politics. If you remember, during the 20008 election cycle, the national media was painting the Republican party as old and tired with no young blood on the horizon. The emergence of Palin and the recent introduction of Brown has shown that the conservative movement is energized with new talent that has ramped up enthusiasm for the Republican party.
Much as been said about “the shot heard ’round the world” with Brown’s election and it’s impact on the Obama agenda. For sure his election might possibly kill healthcare, cap and trade, immigration reform, the war on terrorism and other issues important to conservatives. But his election is much more important than these issues. His election has lit the fire in conservative politics, has brought new exposure to the conservative movement and has re-energized the conservative base.
Brown’s election and his vibrant personality, paired with the enthusiasm and support that Palin generates amongst conservatives, is rocking the political landscape. It is quite apparent now that conservatism never died, and in fact, is the driving force of American politics in today’s world. We have two new, recently unknown rock stars to thank – Sarah Palin and Scott Brown. The future is bright.
